Everyone Should be a Femininst

The dreaded F-word.  No, no not F*ck, the other one, FEMINIST.  People have given this word such a negative connotation, but no man or women should be against feminist.  A woman who identifies as a feminist does not want to placed above men, she does not hate men, she does not want to  be victimized by men.  She simply hates the fact that after years and years of fighting for equality it is still very hard to come by.

Feminists believe in feminism because we want to stop teaching young girls how not to be an easy target.  We want to be able to pump gas without being yelled at and sexual harassed.  We want to be able to walk down the streets and not feel uneasy or unsafe because our society has finally been taught not to sexually abuse peers and innocent bystanders.

Feminists believe in in feminism because we don't want to only dress our daughters in pink and our sons in blue.  Feminist don't want to teach young boys to be "tough," and suppress their emotions because emotions are very real and should not only be expressed by women.  Feminists don't want to teach young girls to be "girly" and dependent because it's important to be a strong, self-sufficient woman.

We need feminism because gender inequality is a very real thing.  There is still a pay gap between in the U.S., in fact women make seven-eight cents to every dollar that a man makes.  While holding the same positions as their male equivalents, women still are being penalized for simply being woman.

Feminism is not limited to just women.  Everyone should be a feminist because we all deserve equality.

Fall Babes

I know I've been really MIA lately, but life has just gotten really fast and crazy!  That being said, I really want to get back to posting on a more regular basis because I absolutely love blogging and it's a great creative outlet for myself.
So, I went west for the weekend to spend a weekend at home with my family.  Fall in the mountains is my favorite time of the year and I hate that I'm missing it while away at school.  However, it was so beautiful to escape reality for a few days and spend time with my family.  Please enjoy these photos of my sister and I roaming around an Arboretum.

Ever-Changing

Guess what.  I'm back!

At the beginning of the year I lost all drive and passion to keep this site up, but over the past few weeks I've been really trying to get back into the groove of things.  For a while I thought I needed to change everything about my blog: name, layout, and content.  Now, I am falling back in love with this site and blogging in general.

Roaming the Racks was created when I was 17 years old and a junior in high school.  I am now 19 years old and entering my sophomore year of college; I'm a completely different from the girl who started a blog two years ago. In the past I limited myself to strictly fashion and beauty posts because when I first started that was my only goal.  Around the time I launched Roaming the Racks my vision was for it to look as a typical fashion blog, containing mostly photos.  As time went on my post became less frequent because I felt like I had to stick to a certain theme so everything would look and seem coherent.  That's when I realized: I can do whatever the hell I want.

So, I am planning to expand my content to topics that I've never really touched on before.  I'm in the process of decorating my first apartment and really getting into interior design, so I'd like to express that here.  Writing more lifestyle posts is also on my agenda along with loads of other ideas.  Don't worry though because the fashion/style posts will be in full blast too and hopefully better than ever!

Keep an eye out for new posts on this every-changing blog!
